It was supposed to be a onetime gig when composer and conductor Jens Christian “Chappe” Jensen put the x-tra large big band together for Aarhus Festive Week (Aarhus Festuge) in 2001.
The musicians were found at the Royal Academy of Music where Chappe is an associate professor and their name was simply dubbed from a six-piece suite they were playing: Blood Sweat Drum’n’Bass.
The festival should have been end of story. Instead it became the beginning. A year later the 27-persons big band was back on stage.
